City Hall

In 1884, the City acquired the “Everett Hotel” and adopts its use for City Hall.  The fireman’s sleeping quarters are on the third floor and it has a 38–foot pole, the longest one the state.  The building served as the City's headquarters until 1928 when the current City Hall was completed.

City Hall is the third building with the tower on top.  In 1967 the top two floors of the building were gutted by fire.  By then, the building was known as the Alexander building.  The floors were vacant at the time.  It was the second major fire to the building in four years.  As a result of the fire, the top two floors were removed.

Today, Hunan Chinese restaurant occupies the bottom floor of the Everett House.
